Do you feel called to give three years to a Mission Hospital or Clinic?
It is not for everyone; in fact it is a very small group of people who are willing to leave the comforts of home to live simply to work alongside the people of the missions. This is a ministry of service, dedication, self-sacrifice, and tremendous rewards.
Requirements:
- Catholic
- U.S. Citizenship
- U.S. Medical License in good standing
- Good physical and mental health

As a first step, we invite you to complete an application form and indicate that you are interested in the long-term program.
What does MDA provide?
Doctors and their spouses accepted into this program will take part in a four-month formation program, together with those preparing to serve as Lay Mission-Helpers Association. This residential formation program is held in Los Angeles with classes offered in Scripture, Theology, Mission Culture, Catholic Social Doctrine, Communication and are for the individuals' personal preparation to begin this important ministry of service.
Once the formation is completed, doctors begin their three-year mission assignment. MDA provides airfare for these long-term lay missionaries, as well as, insurance and a small stipend.
For those who face the unique challenges that come with living and serving in the missions the most comon reflection is "We received so much more than we gave."
